We spend much of the summer on Bailey Island where our "Camp" overlooks Water Cove. Now and then visit the inland North Woods almost like we are tourists.
This area is about half locals who depend upon the lobster economy and those of us who are "from away". Pat has been coming to Bailey Island for more than 60 years so she might even qualify as a local. We love the people here and we never tire of the ever-changing view from our front porch.
This remote island is about a 45 minute boat ride from Port Clyde. It is a magical place of deep woods, open ocean, lobster traps and artists.
Maine's biggest lake and deepest woods
Driving up Route 1 is always a treat.
